Anna Rowland is a 15 year old musician with experience In choirs and playing many instruments. She began at age 7 in Clark County Children’s Choir, and at age 9 performed on television at the MDA telethon along with other well-known musicians and celebrities. She performed with the Okotoks Children’s Choir from ages 10 to 11, including singing a duet at one of the concerts. Anna is mostly self-taught on the piano, having only 3 months of lessons at age 8. She enjoys teaching herself to play the guitar, and this summer she also tried the ukulele. She taught herself to play a song on the ukulele to accompany her cousins for a musical number at a family wedding reception. Anna started with the flute in her band class when she was in grade 7 at Muriel Clayton Middle School. She continued in advanced band in grade 8, where she performed a flute duet at the Christmas concert. She also performed in a small group ensemble with another flute, a tenor saxophone, and a trumpet. Anna continued in band in grade 9 at W.H Croxford and is now in the Music Academy in her grade 10 year. As part of the Music Academy at W.H Croxford, Anna has formed a band known as A5 with Abby Sensabaugh (on flute), Arwen Kope (on drums), and Alice Sinani (on piano). Their last project as a band was putting together a medley of their favourite Disney songs for their first original piece.
